Call for symposia proposals for the Scandinavian Physiological Society in Stockholm September 3-5, 2021

Each symposium at The Scandinavian Physiological Society meeting 2021 consists of one or two organizer(s) (who will also act as the Chair) and they will therefore not be included as speaker(s). The total time of 1.5 hours are divided between two established investigators in the field (each allocated 30 minutes) and two early-career researchers (each allocated 15 minutes). Early-career researchers should be PhD students or postdocs or hold a non-professorial position at the faculty level.

We welcome, and encourage, submissions and speakers from all countries, not just from colleagues working in Scandinavia. A prerequisite to propose a symposia is that you are a member of SPS (if not a member already, please join via http://scandphys.org/membership/)

Each symposium will have the following format:

  • Senior (30 min)
  • Senior (30 min)
  • Early-career (15min, selected from submitted abstracts)
  • Early-career (15min, selected from submitted abstracts)

We particularly welcome inter-disciplinary and integrated symposia that address topics spanning across conventional borders in the physiological sciences. In case two similar proposals are submitted, we could combine selected speakers from the two to get a more original pairing and/or balanced the speaker list. The program will consist of approx. 14 symposia in total across the three days, in addition to keynote lectures and poster session. Chair(s) for the symposia and the local organizing committee will be involved in selecting early-career speakers from the submitted abstracts in June 2021.

Each symposium can be funded to a maximum of 1,500 Euro (total) to cover travel, accommodation and registration of speakers. Procurement of additional funding is encouraged and will be acknowledged online and in the printed program. All speakers are required to submit an abstract.

When submitting your proposal, please bear in mind that speaker lists consisting of a single gender will not be considered.

The proposal should include the following:

  • Title of symposia:
  • Brief summary of the topic and what the speakers are expected to address (max 400 words):
  • Suggested speakers (incl. name, affiliation and contact information):
  • Proposed by Chair(s) (incl. name, affiliation and contact information):

Please submit your proposal by August 31, 2020 to: symposiaSPS2021@fyfa.ki.se SUBMISSION CLOSED

Also, we have the capacity to live stream the conference in case some countries might have travel restrictions even in 2021. Please don’t hesitate to contact us in the organizing committee for any further information (symposiaSPS2021@fyfa.ki.se) or visit http://scandphys.org/ (information on the biennial meeting will be posted in the next few months.)

Sincerely,
